I had the urge again to play a tournament online. I was sitting at a cash table with a depleted stack and an ad came up for a $1.5K guarantee for only $2. So I thought I'd put my remaining stack there instead of losing it to the table bully. more

Google's gone crazy with ad filtering!

I created another ad for BigTPoker.com and I hit Google's keyword filter exclusion mechanism. This time I used the word speed. What a terrible word to use! Apparently that might mean I'm advertising drugs or drug paraphenalia. Go forbid it could be the word meaning to go fast! replies

New for me, a 5 way tie

Ties come up often enough, and three way ties come up occasionally, but a five way tie is new to me. The board shows a nice palindrome: more

My first item for my blog

This is just my first entry in my blog. I will use this site to trace my poker exploits: starting from the penny tables to either WSOP victory, or when my funds run out. more

Adding poker.brainbrain.net

I've added a new brain for my exploits in the world of poker. Anybody else can use it as well, though I don't suspect many, if any, people will -- but I should get some people reading it. more

Reply To Pair Programming Session 1

Sigh. I shouldn't, but I can't help myself. I have to ask: Why is it that you need all this hardware to get data out of the database? Is it *really* necessary? replies

Reply To Pair Programming Session 1

As far as I know, promiscuity is encouraged in XP - so I would not expect anyone to criticize you for starting half-way through a story. In practice, I would prefer to finish a story with an existing partner because it gives both developers the satisfaction of completing a piece of work. more

Pair Programming Session 1

For this session we decided to try pick up on a trail of development I started on my own. Many zealots are already likely to be angry: you can't just pick up on something that already exists, it is meant for new code. more

Pair Programming Experiment

Within a succession of volleys of pros and cons of XP as a programming method, a friend of mine has driven me to try pair programming once again. I say once again, though my previous experiments were few and short lived. more
