Th Evil and Joy of Operator Overloading

Is overloading a bad thing? Despite a wide variety of new languages supporting some form of it I continue to find articles that say overloading is bad. Worse, I find many articles that somehow think overloading operators is bad but that overloading functions is perfectly okay. more

Rules for Framework Development

Each time I start a new project I find myself looking at the latest batch of frameworks. Lately those are web frameworks, such as CakePHP, RubyOnRails, perhaps JQuery, or any other of the thousands which seem to exist. Usually I end up using none of them. more

Sessionless Authentication with Encrypted Tokens

Storing user credentials is one of the key roadblocks in creating a sessionless web application. Somehow you need to safely identify the user without storing data on the server nor allowing tampering on the client. more

A new version

I've upgraded the software here again. I know the main site is rather dead, but the code is used for http://testplan.brainbrain.net/ and http://bigtpoker.com/. Most of the new features are for those sites. more

Never use strato.de -- terrible service

Strato.de decided to lock our account due to a "possible attack" from our system. They do this without any explanation, without any email, and without any possibility to correct the situation. The normal support line at first promises an email response, but none comes. more

Yahoo Mail spam checking is seriously broken

I don't need to give much evidence that the Yahoo Mail spam checking is seriously broken. All I need to do is point a note they make when you request assistance (admin assistance) with Yahoo Mail delivery problems. more

Google's gone crazy with ad filtering!

I created another ad for BigTPoker.com and I hit Google's keyword filter exclusion mechanism. This time I used the word speed. What a terrible word to use! Apparently that might mean I'm advertising drugs or drug paraphenalia. Go forbid it could be the word meaning to go fast! replies
