Strato.de decided to lock our account due to a "possible attack" from our system. They do this without any explanation, without any email, and without any possibility to correct the situation. The normal support line at first promises an email response, but none comes. Further attempts reveal you have to email a special <abuse-server@strato.de>. They of course don't answer (over one hour without so much as a peep). Support can do nothing.

The original claim is that a leak in PhpMYAdmin or a Botnet, or an IRC server running on the host is being used for the attack. Of course no such programs run on the host. Only Apache, Postfix, and MySQL run there. Access to the machine is done via SSH and Web (no admin via web possible). MySQL allows only one external connection from a static IP address for backup purposes.

So basically, in any case, even if they manage to fix the system I can't trust their network as I don't see how their "attack" scenario could have been launched from our system unless it was their virtual architecture itself which was compromised.
